I have an issue with finish flaking on my MT2. Same issue on both sides of mandolin as seen in photo. Has anyone tried to repair something like this, including using the Stewmac lacquer ColorTone Touch-up Marker? I'm not the original owner, so not covered under warranty.

Contact Mark Althans at Collings, they have been very generous in repairing issues, even so far as doing so for 2nd owners.

Russ, finish flaking on both sides of your MT2 mandolin is common, especially around edges, and while Stewmac’s ColorTone Touch-up Marker can help with color matching and minor surface blemishes, it won’t fix the flaking itself; the best DIY approach is to carefully clean and smooth loose edges, apply thin coats of clear lacquer to seal the area, then use the marker for touch-ups after the lacquer cures, but for a more durable and flawless repair, consulting a professional luthier is recommended.
