Re: Calton Cases - in pictures
Kind of flashy. I have one Calton case and like it a lot. More of a vault than a case really. I prefer mine to be plain and less obvious than most in this video. I also have a MainStage case that I had custom made that is also plain. The two cases are identical for obvious reasons.

great to hear about your cases...great thing about these custom cases is we all can get them as we like. I love the splatter and sparkle finishes as they are unique and fun to look at just resting in my guitar room. These cases get more excitement and questions from people that see them that the guitars they carry.
Here's a purple Calton with the splatter finish option...

Forgive my ignorance on the topic -- it's been a while since I checked in on Calton cases (though I do own a couple). These current iteration seem to be very solid. Are the hints of quality issues from 15(ish) years ago completely gone from today's production line? Those older ones had so many problems that I thought I'd turned myself off of Calton for good. These (as well as management) seem to be very different, and your posts have been encouraging.

I think you have very accurately summarized what many Calton Case customers would describe as a brief and accurate history of the company. Today, the Austin based version, i think is very solid. Some updated designs, finishes and consistent quality along with new ownership and management make Calton virtually a new version of a mature product.
I visited the shop last summer and got to see all aspects of the production of the cases, and many examples that were being shipped all over the world. It was impressive.
Today's Calton Cases are solid, have better latch protection, to my eye ascetically more pleasing and the color and finish option are better than ever.
Calton doesn't build inexpensive cases and over the past couple of years they've needed to increase case prices to keep producing them at the quality they currently are. They are not for everyone, but for those who need/or want a case that is IMO the most protective on the market and can be an expression of your artistic choices they are something to be proud of.
