Questions on Collings Traditional Cases

Not sure if this is the right section, but I was wondering if anyone had information on the history of the interior linings for the Collings traditional cases. It looks like Collings switched from a blue/purple color early on to the modern magenta/purple color. How many color variations have there been, and at what serial numbers? I’m looking for a case, but I much prefer the bluer color. Are there any other changes that have been made to the cases?

Also, has anyone used this case to do double duty for a modern Martin dreadnought?

I'm sorry I can't help you with the lining info, except to say that Bill had purple lining in the prototype stage and then ran out for early production. My dreadnaught case (#33) has the blue lining while my OM case has the purple one. The dreadnaught case fits my vintage D18, so it should fit modern Martins.

Thanks, Greg. I wonder if it was a decision based on availability.

My 2016-era Collings OM cases (guitar SN's #26XXX) have the blueberry interior and serial numbers in the format M000000, while with my later-issue cases (#27XXX and up) have the raspberry interior and serial numbers in the format OM-000000. My highest case serial number in blueberry is 146 and my lowest number in raspberry is 282. I hope this helps.

I just bought one from pto over in the buy and sell section. (My first! It is beautiful!) It is number 266 and has the blueberry color. That would put the switch from blueberry to raspberry between 266 and 282, assuming there was a single, hard transition.

I really miss the Collings traditional cases. I think they are making a big mistake in discontinuing those cases. All the other cases are a let down or really mixes ones are way too expensive for me
