Mandolin roll call -- who's got 'em and whatcha got?
Mandolin roll call -- who's got 'em and whatcha got?
I have a simple MT2 - no frills - that I love and it does the trick every time a mando is called for. I don't think it's even worn in yet but the tone is surprising for such a small and basic instrument.
What about you?

I don't currently have a Collings mando, but I made a big mistake in selling an MT I owned back in the 'aughts to fund a custom from a small builder. It was as good tonally as any mandolin I've ever owned, and considerably better than the custom that replaced it.
Currently I've got a Pava and an old Gibson A-1. They're both neat mandolins, so I came out all right in the end, but I do miss that MT.

I've got a 2014 MTL and a 2015 MFL, both lefties. And both sweet!

I have an MF5 Deluxe V. It might be the nicest thing I own! I love it.

I have a 2004 MT2 that I play nearly every day. A lot of other mandolins have come and gone, but not my MT2. It's been refretted and also back to the Collings shop for PLEKing. A broken-in MT2 is a wonderful thing!

Fortunately, mandolins stick here. I have only owned two and I still have both of them. One is an MT2V and the other is the Ivory/Burgundy MT2O https://www.collingsguitars.com/custom- ... cream-top/. Very different Mandolins but very enjoyable.

I have a MF in Honey Blonde....non Gloss. My dealer said this was the poor man's varnish finish. I upgraded the tuners to Waverly's, added a James tailpiece and a K & K dual pickup.
I got it about 3 years ago and learned a few tunes. Now I don't play it much, but it's nice to have. Maybe one day I'll get serious with it again.
I did play it at church one time on a Tim McGraw tune. The pickup came in handy for that and sounded great!

I have a Collings MT. I've had it for only 5 days but love the way it sounds. I wanted to learn how to play the mandolin and wanted a decent instrument to learn with. I have a Collins D1 guitar thats old enough to have Bill Collins signature on it as well.

I used to have an early MT serial # 501. It was a great mando. Went on to play a Heiden F....and currently play an Ellis A deluxe with a beautiful double-flowerpot inlay that Tom did for me. Engraved tailpiece by Weldon Lister
