2003 OM42BaaaA. Extremely responsive and resonant guitar. They were built a bit heavier back then, and it has held up beautifully.

My current earliest Collings is a D1 Sitka/Hog from 2009. I'm the original owner....an all time favorite!

Hi, my first Collings was a '98 build Ds2h #4549.
It went through a lot with my including having the headstock shattered (not by me) shortly after purchase.
However, During my 2017 illness when I was unable to play for some months I let it get too cold, and it reacted badly.

In retrospect I should have left it alone to re-adjust but I had it refretted and pleked and it just wasn't the same (and neither was I) so I told the plek shop to hang it on the wall whilst I thought about it - and it sold in a week (!) I was rather sad about that, but I have my 2007 DS2h which is lovely so ...
Actually, I'd love to know who has it now and how they are getting on with it.

Now my oldest are 2003 models - an 0002h and a DS1ASB

The 0002h has turned a beautiful tanned colour now.

I made a series of little videos of my guitars to be used in the ev3nt of my death -not being morbid but it is the time of plague!

I enjoyed watching your two videos. Great guitars and do a terrific job of describing their characteristics. Play them in good health!

If I was only allowed one flat top it would be a DS2h from April 2000 I've had from new, my favourite guitar.
Actually with the fall out from the pandemic it looks very much like I will have to get rid of everything else in my small collection......not in the least bit worried.

My 97 D2H (#2967), purchased new from Stan Jay at Mandolin Brothers (RIP x 2). What an experience that was. Mandolin Brothers was an amazing place. Sorry, no photo handy.

In 2000, I was having trouble with a Gibson Guitar. Continuous fret buzzing. Music store would not give me my money back and after 2 visits back to gibson where they told me they fixed it (and did not) I asked gibson for my money back. they refused!

I was so upset about the whole situation. I was familiar with Stan Jay from Mandolin Brothers and asked him if he could help, he helped to broker a deal with Gibson wherein I only ended up losing a couple of hundred bucks and ended up buying a D2H SB from Stan.

She turns 21 next month and I love her as much now as I did the day I got her!

That is where I bought my first collings in 2000! What a guy Stan was. Losing him (as well as his wonderful store) was heartbreaking.

My oldest is a '96 0002h...a keeper.

A bit of wear, and love how the sound matures over the 25 years.
