new frets?

Hi guys - It's been 10 years now with my OM guitar, playing about 2 hours/day. How do I know when it needs frets? It sounds a little tinnier on the upper frets but it's also winter & i know humidity plays a role. I keep humidifier packs in the case but still it varies day to day. Is there a certain type of fret i should use if/when it's time? Thanks.

If I had a question about my frets I'd take the guitar to my favorite guitar tech or luthier. They can examine the frets and advise you on the best course. I recently had my D2H in the shop and my guy dressed the frets while doing a set up. It was a lot cheaper than replacing them and I should be good for years.

You didn't mention whether there are noticable signs of wear. I could feel grooves worn in the cowboy frets. They are now gone.

If you do need to replace some or all of the frets Collings can supply OEM fret wires so you can keep you guitar original.
