Got this one new about 6 months ago. It has opened up nicely. The neck is a joy to play and it sounds great with phos bronze or monel strings. This guitar came to me with a perfect setup from The Music Emporium. I haven't had to tweak anything. Neck has just about .005" of relief and it plays so nice on the upper frets. It doesn't look like Collings gets their tops "over-cooked". Lightly toasted at most, which is what I prefer. I think some builders use tops that are too torrefied and brittle.
I don't know what to call the Honduras Mahogany on this one, light flame? Collings matched the perfect back and sides with the top. The neck even has some of the same "flame" as the back and sides. So glad I found this one. Loud, woody and very balanced across the strings and up the neck, what more could a guy ask for? Only thing I changed was the pickguard.
