Re: Collings 01

The fact that you came here to talk about it indicates that this crack seems to bother you. It is likely that you will continue to wonder about the crack as long as you own the guitar. In the long run you might be better off getting your money back and looking for another. There are a lot of fish in...

Re: Pickup for OM3A cutaway.

When the Collings factory installs a pickup in an acoustic guitar it is added at the end of the build. Therefore. as long as the luthier does a quality job it should be the same either way.

Re: Collings Idiosyncratic sound

Well of course I had to grab my 2000 D2H and hit that G note repeatedly with a variety of grips and a variety of attacks. No rattle or any other unwanted noise.

Re: Strings on your D (1-3)

On my D sized guitars I prefer a hybrid set. I use the John Pearse New Mediums 13, 17, 24, 32, 42, 55

I agree. Very nice sound. I can hear the difference in the pins. To my ear I think that I prefer the second recording.

Hadn't been familiar with his work before. That is a beautiful instrument. I can't wait to hear it.

Re: Collings Playability

I find my Collings very playable. Any player that has picked it up has agreed. I agree about having it set up properly to suit the players needs/wants. In fact, as I said in another thread mine went into the shop today for a tuneup. I think threads like the one on AGF are often populated by folks wi...

Collings Frets

I have a D2H built in 2000. I took it to Craig Landau today to get the frets dressed and to have him do a set up/deep cleaning. He examined it and said "These are the old Collings frets. They have plenty of height to work with." I know I should have asked him to explain and will when I pick it up bu...

Re: Best acoustic electric guitars

Not to sound like a snob, but among that list I'd choose none of the above. There are lots of better choices available although they typically come with higher prices. For example, if I wanted a Hummingbird I'd certainly rate the Gibson Version way above the Epiphone version. Of course, it would lik...
