I just received this new model from Collings. I special ordered this Sitka/EIR guitar with a 1-3/4” nut. It was finished and shipped to The Music Emporium a couple of days ago. My first impressions are positive. Like all Collings it is perfectly made and plays beautifully. It comes with medium strings that I expected to swap out to lights, but I find the guitar to play so easily that I doubt I will change the strings anytime soon. The guitar has a 16” lower bout, 11” upper bout, and a depth than goes from 3-5/8” to 4-5/8”. It is extremely comfortable and fits well into my body frame while sitting. The guitar has plenty of volume as expected. The non-scalloped bracing produces great balance and clarity with a great big bass response. It’s new and my playing time has been limited, but so far I’m thrilled.

That's a beautiful guitar. I like the back wood. And it's a long scale with medium gauge strings; I am sure that small body puts out some sound. Congratulations.

Paul, that is a thing of beauty, sweet congratulations. Since CJ & SJ are my favorites, C100 gets a big thumbs up. Very happy for you, tap a toe.

Thanks for the comments. BTW, I did swap out the D'Addario medium strings it was shipped and set up at the factory with for D'Addario EXP light strings to see what was different. I honestly think there is a small improvement in tone and feel with the EXP Lights. There is no problem with Lights driving the top of this guitar. I’ll let the guitar settle in for a week and have my tech look it over to tweak the setup. He is rock solid and has always made my guitars play perfectly.
