Hello, I'm somewhat new to the forum and am curious what thoughts are regarding the 001 vs 01? Has anyone had a chance to play both? Thanks in advance for your comments!

I used to have a Collings 01avn. It was a good guitar for flatpicking but a less open for backup than i liked. I waited years for Collings to make a 14 fret 00.....but eventually gave up the wait and bought a '39 Martin 00-18 which is a stunning sounding guitar & a keeper. If i had to choose between an 01 and a 001....i'd go for the 00. A german top might be a really nice match. I had an 0001G and the top responded very nicely to a light touch. 001G would be my choice. Best of luck with your decision.

Thanks for the comments. I purchased the 001 14 Fret and it is great! I look forward to getting the setup completed soon.

The sound of the Spruce and Mahogany are really warm. The sustain and presence are incredible. It has a piano like quality and every subtlety is translated to sound.

Amazing!
