Does anybody have any information on pricing for Collings instruments will be next year?

No. But it will be interesting to see how prices continue to climb. I was doing some figuring recently based on the latest Collings serial numbers that I’ve seen posted by dealers, and it looks like Collings production of acoustics has maybe fallen by 50% over these past two COVID years. That’s just anecdotal evidence, but it seems to be supported by what I’ve seen from internet dealers. There’s not as much new stock on the market.

I don’t know either but recently saw an OM at Acoustic Music Works site that says the price will go up by $375 on Jan. 1, 2022.

I’ll try to include the link:

That actually is not too bad an increase compared to other things. Let's hope the supply holds and does not create upward pressure on the street price.

Acoustic Music Works posted this PSA on another forum last month:

“Collings has announced the *first* 2022 price increase, effective Jan 1st. Here are the price changes you should expect to see on guitars advertised as BRAND NEW in shops' inventories, regardless of the year they were built:

All rosewood b/s guitars: +$375
All mahogany b/s guitars: +$275
Electrics, generally: +$325
Mandolins, generally: +$275
Waterloo: +$275 with the WL-S going up +$525 and the WL-S Deluxe +$775!!!

A few other changes to the options list. No more varnish. No more Collings cases, but that has become common knowledge at this point. Waterloo orders are still suspended (about 6 months now since they let us get new ones on the books) with delivery times of guitars currently on order stretching well into 2023.”

Collings has already told us that there will be another price increase announced effective October, 2022. If you have been looking at a brand new Collings online, now is the time to buy, folks!

In the market for a D1 and looking at the used store prices, it is pretty high. I might as well buy new from the look of things.

Whatever the prices become, I can honestly say that, for me, the costs for my Collings have been well worth it based on the many, many hours of pure joy I have had playing them. I can’t think of too many other things I have enjoyed during my life more, particularly when the costs are amortized over the years I have enjoyed them.

And when you consider the increasing scarcity of quality tonewoods, the difficulty running a shop during a pandemic when your employees just can’t work remotely from home…

Wishing everyone a brighter, more musical 2022 and hope you’re planning on plenty of Collings playing!

I agree -the price of the Collings guitars I have are well worth the price given the joy I have playing them. Collings dread in 2022 here I come!

There’s not as much new stock on the market.
