Variations of the 290 DC

Hi folks - can someone tell me what the difference is between the 290 DC that has the see-through back cavity and the non-see-through version? There appears to be a ~$1k difference between the two versions. Can it really be the aging process? If so, I didn't know Collings dabbled in the relic-ing.

If I'm not explaining this well, please see the $3.8k version here: https://www.gryphonstrings.com/collecti ... ectric-new

and the pricier version here: https://reverb.com/item/45000525-collin ... 90-pickups

I thought the aging process was a $500-$600 upgrade. Maybe the less expensive of the two also is older stock (pre the last Collings price increase) as well. Sorry, I’m not much help on this but those are the only things I can think of.
