Why does my OM1 E SS look different than others ?

Hi - New to the forum but have owned , played and loved my Coll OM1 E SS since 2013 S/N 19915 . Purchased from Mandolin Bros . I love this neck but it seems a little different than all other Collings OM necks where the neck joins the headstock . The contour there is smooth with no diamond projection.

I have pics but cannot figure out how to reduce their size to under 1MB very well . I'm trying .

In addition , does the E mean Engelmann ?

looks like the om1's that i could find don't have the volute. 2's and up do. martin tradition, also.

well, i'd forgotten myself. i knew that was Brand M's approach, but never noticed it on Collings - i've never had a Collings "1":)

It's the same with D's. The D2 has the volute, but the D1 does not.
