2020 Collings D1AT Sinker Mahogany back and sides, Adirondack Spruce top (not baked). This guitar has clear and present Collings mahogany tone and volume with a bass response that ventures into rosewood Martin territory, imo. Still a Collings, but very well balanced. The neck reinforcement is Collings’ adjustable T-bar design. I’ve loved playing this guitar, but it’s time for it to move on. You can see some pick and pinky finger drag marks on the pick guard (pictured), but they’re light and don’t carry into the finish below the guard.

Glad to provide more details, just let me know. Thanks!

Hi. Can you explain how the sinker mh differs from the usual Honduran we know, and what price premium does it add?
Thanks, and nice guitar!
Tom

Tom,
Sinker Mahogany is wood that has been recovered from logs that have been submerged for a period of time, sometimes a long period. There’s a bunch of info online about it. I’m definitely not qualified to discuss the value of one type of mahogany over another, although to my knowledge, Collings builds fewer D1’s from Sinker and this one was designated as limited.

This D1AT physically has a light balanced feel to it, and rumbles nicely against the chest. It has plenty of volume when needed, deep bass, beautiful midrange and softer trebles. If the Sinker Mahogany contributes to this, then I’m satisfied. It’s a great guitar, imo, and plays great. I hope this helps. John

Thank you, John, I'll look into it further. I've heard of it and seen some online, but looking to find out what differences or enhancements it makes.
Good luck with your sale.

Thanks! One characteristic, I agree with, is that sinker contributes to a guitar sounding older than its years.
