Fret Size on Collings

Hi all,

I have two Collings (an OM2hT and an OM2hssvn) which I love but I also have a Martin OM28v which I also love but it needs a refret.

Does anyone what frets Collings use? I see they have the measurements in their FAW but I'm interested in the actual brand and product code - I really like the frets on my Collings and want to get my Martin refretted with the same wire...

I'm surprised no one here has responded to this yet. Does no one know what frets Collings uses? I'm new to the Collings family with an OM2G, but long time strat player, and there's a plethora of discussion on strat fret sizes etc. Just curious if no one really knows? I know this forum isn't as populated as AGF, so maybe post this on AGF to get an answer? Guess I'm just curious about the Collings frets too for kicks sake.

Seen on Collings guitar FAQ page:

What type of fret wire do you use?

Our standard fretwire dimensions are as follows:

crown width: 2 mm
crown height: 1.10 mm
Tang width: 0.80 mm
Total height 2.60 mm

SWRM, You're right, this forum isn't as populated as it was in the past. A couple of things about Collings frets. My first inclination is that it's the minority of Collings that have needed to be re-fretted, compared to Strats that have been around since 1956 or so. I did have a Collings brazilian re-fretted once and my luthier mentioned that he didn't have those exact frets. Turns out Collings fretwire is proprietary. (They have it made for them) I called up Collings and bought some from them.

Collings will be glad to sell you the correct fret wire needed to get your guitar back up to snuff.

Their customer service is top notch. On any repair or upfitting project they should be the first call you or your luthier make.
