When ever I am tuning, my strings stick in the nut. After tuning, while playing the tuning will “jump” out of tune. Such a pain!
Oh almost forgot:
* usually the D and G
* OOO3 model
What’s the best fix?
Tuning Trouble
Re: Tuning Trouble
light or medium gauge on there now? today, that guitar ships with d'addario j-16's. ie light gauge.
then, the first thing most luthiers do is to take a graphite pencil and lubricate the nut slots (usually the G-sting is the foremost cuprit).
if still a problem... i'd take to a luthier; don't want to inadvertantly over-enlarge the slot!
-->> tuning tip, after all that... the problem often goes away if you loosen the string before bringing it up to pitch.

Light gauge J-16 one time the d’addario custom lights.
I store my guitar tuned down, so I always have to tune up a step or so before I play. I play in standard tuning mostly (love this guitar in lower pitched tunings though!)

Re: Tuning Trouble
Late to join, but 1. graphite in the nut slots,
2. slight adjustment with a nut saw by someone who knows what they are doing,
3. Don't up and down tune, keep the tension consistent.
4. Try this tuning method : https://youtu.be/WZ51rIIvlwQ

Mucho Gracias! Your tuning technique is very helpful. I’ll give it a go tonight! I am aware of the graphite trick, never able to scrounge up a pencil around here!
About your guitar. I have been thinking about acquiring a DS1 myself, not now but down the road, so to speak. I currently play a 000-3. What difference might I notice between the DS1/000-3?
