002 v. 0002

Hello everyone, this is my first post. Own two Martins but want to acquire a new Collings for fingerstyle. I'll attach a link to my playing if that's allowed.

Am window shopping for either a 002 or a 0002 Adirondack. Is there a possibility of an AB comparison, either in a shop that carries both, or online? I guess I could get one this year and the other one next year.

The 002 is adorable, but my hearing is not the best and so I may be happier with a 000.

Thanks very much for your opinions,
Rob

Hi, this resp0nse is a little late but this is my observation FWIW.
I hav a Collings 0002h, and love it, and I've wanted a 002h for some time, but have found none for sales in the UK or EU and so jumped for another make. I've had a local lithier made 0028 style for over 20 years, so these instruments form my opinion.

The differnce in playability is slight, but it exists - as the 00 is a shortewr scale., and of course the body width is slightly different.

I would argue that volume difference is minimal, but tat the 00 is a little more "focussed" and lacks nothing.

As a flatpicking dreadnought player form most performance purposes enduring effectively, a year long lockdown, my dreads have been virtually unused ans my 000 and, particularly my 00 guitars (I'll add in my WL12), have been bearing the brunt of my attentions, and ... well, the 00 guitars are becoming my weapon of choice.

I can't currently imagine performing with my trio with a 00, but for teaching, my YouTube channel, and for the pure pleasure of playing ... 00.

Don't dismiss 'em.
