i don't know, but suspect dealer hype. not that Collings never used the word Special from time to time, but the only time of which i'm aware was the #20000 "D-45 Special." at any rate, i'd think that it would have to be pretty darned special for them to use the word. as to the large number - could b...

mark was a year behind me at stanford, and my guitar teacher at gryphon, all those years till i moved to wyoming and he to oregon. i can't imagine a better teacher, and his books are tremendous. just finished learning his "water is wide" in E - big stretches for my hands in that key, but worth it. h...

my 2 dreadnought cases are a bluish purple (if that's a thing). #21 vs #266. i have a much more recent 0 12-fret case that is REALLY purple. so maybe the D cases are what you are talking about. i noticed this week that ALL of Collings cases are listed as out of stock now. wonder what they are doing ...

over the years, that question has come up. and members (at least on the old forum), from time to time, would say that their label was not signed. Bill missed a few, i guess.

i believe when they have time, they build one or two from parts/partial-builds left over in the shop; the space Bill took over to work on his vehicles.

great idea on the altoids box. any of those little tins from the old days would be cool, too. beats whatever blue ship charges for their little wooden boxes. although they are nice, but maybe TOO small.
